If you find endless calculations and trying to find a
calculator tedious, then this is for you. The people who find math boring are
about to find out Math is still boring. But, the mathematicians who create the
math that you study are anything but boring.
A mathematician is known for riding his motorcycle into the
meeting he was going to. He had just earned a huge amount of grant money which
will ensure his future. He was so proud of himself that he bought a motorcycle.
He either wanted to show it off or could not let it out of his sight in case it
might get stolen. Either way he rode it into the building and parked it just
outside the conference room he was going to.
Another mathematician was a murderer… He killed the man who
stole his one true love. This was back in the 1500s when they still believed in
true love.
If you talk to almost any mathematician who calls themselves
a statistician they also have a gambling
issue whether it be poker, horse racing, or fantasy sports.
If that is not enough for you, John Nash has a movie based
off of his life, A Beautiful Mind. Hate on equations, probability, and pocket
protectors at your own risk because that math geek is probably more interesting
than you.
